Why was season 2 episode 20 of Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun delayed and has a new release date been revealed by NHK or Crunchyroll?
As we move into September and towards the climax of the summer slate, anime series around the world are gearing up for their respective season finales.
This weekend, the penultimate episode of Bandai Namco’s hit series ‘Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun’ should have been airing on NHK in Japan and internationally via Crunchyroll.
However, fans will be disappointed to hear that Iruma-kun’s latest episode has been delayed, pushing back the season 2 premiere until September 11th.

Why was S2 episode 20 delayed?
On August 21st, the official NHK Twitter page confirmed that season 2 episode 20 of Welcome to Demon school, Iruma-kun had been delayed by one week.
The television network revealed that the domestic broadcast of episode 20 would not take place as planned due to the broadcast of the Paralympic Games, which are ongoing until September 5th.
As anime episodes don’t launch on streaming platforms if they don’t air on Japanese television, fans on Crunchyroll will also have to wait for the new episode.
Alongside this news, NHK also confirmed that another of their popular titles, ‘Love Live, Superstar!!’ had also been affected by the broadcast of the Paralympic Games.
Episode 6 will now air at 7 PM BST on Monday, September 6th, but this should mark the end of broadcast disruptions.
Could we get a spin-off anime?
Whilst there is still plenty of Iruma-kun content still to go, fans are always looking ahead to what could be next for the franchise.
One possibility is that another television series could be developed from the spin-off manga title, ‘We Are the Main Characters of the Demon World’.
At the time of writing, only four volumes have been published in Japan, but this could easily provide a foundation for a new anime adaptation similar to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’s spin-off, The Slime Diaries.
The Slime Diaries was also produced from a spin-off manga and aired from April 6th to June 22nd earlier this year. However, the main purpose of The Slime Diaries was to tie fans over until the second cour of the main series’ second season premiered.
Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun could utilise a similar approach; adapting this side series to keep fans engaged as we wait for a potential third season for the main series.
A more in-depth breakdown of Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun’s future will be published closer to the season 2 finale on September 11th.
