Liverpool gem Harvey Elliott was handed a ringing endorsement of his talent by starting against Chelsea in tonight 1-1 draw on Merseyside.
The Reds played host to the European champions at Anfield.
Last week was Elliott’s Premier League debut for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Burnley.
This was a far more difficult test, but one that the former Fulham attacker – a £4.3 million signing in 2019 – came through excellently nonetheless.
You know you’re a special talent if even the opposition’s fanbase is raving about you – and you’re very special if you have Chelsea supporters singing your praises.
Here’s how some fans of the West London club reacted to the 18-year-old’s display on Twitter:
Constantly involved
Elliott, who impressed in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers on loan last term, could have scored Liverpool’s first goal.
After Kai Havertz headed Chelsea into a 1-0 lead, the teenager had a good chance to volley home from outside the box, but he miscued the effort and blazed it over the crossbar.
But the fact that he was in that position in the first place illustrates that the kid was constantly involved for Liverpool.
The game didn’t pass him by one iota and that’s why he has such a frightening future in this game, with WhoScored reporting that Elliott clocked over 100 touches of the ball and had a passing success of around 87 percent.
