Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Duncan Castles has shared an update on Arsenal’s interest in Brighton’s Yves Bissouma.

The Gunners could probably still do with another midfielder through the door, and the London club have apparently been monitoring Bissouma for quite some time.

With just days to go in the window, Castles says that Arsenal are one of three clubs who have asked Brighton how much it would cost to sign Bissouma.

What’s been said?

“My information is that there are inquiries from Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal as to how much it would cost to sign him,” Castles said.

“Now he has improved significantly during his time at Brighton and what is quite important here is that his statistics are exceptionally good.

“We know that clubs – in particular United, Liverpool and Arsenal – are particularly heavy on this and use analytics as a filter to decide which players to pursue.”

Big price

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United may not like the answer they get about Bissouma’s price.

The Malian is a fantastic player, being labelled as ‘sensational’ by Ian Wright earlier this week, and after selling Ben White for £50m already this summer, Brighton are in a position of power.

The Seagulls have opened their Premier League campaign with two wins, and while it’s early days, it looks as though the south coast club could be building something special.

It’s easy to see why Arsenal want Bissouma, but it’s going to be very tough for them to pry the midfielder away from the Amex, especially after a summer of big spending.
