Liverpool have officially signed Bobby Clark from Newcastle United.

The European giants confirmed via their official website that they had successfully snapped up the Magpies’ academy gem.

Clark, who is only 16, will join up with Liverpool’s academy.

According to The Chronicle, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp personally spoke to Clark about the advantages in signing for the Anfield club and promised him chances to be a ‘big part’ of their future.

For Newcastle, it’s yet another youth star being plucked away from the club before he could realise his potential with them.

And here’s how some fans of the St James’s Park club reacted on Twitter:

Insult to injury

Not only have Newcastle lost one of their own, but the Magpies will receive only a ‘nominal amount of compensation‘ in what is very much insult to injury.

In other words, the North-East giants are losing a major talent for peanuts and it’s no wonder so many supporters are livid.

For Clark, Liverpool is a good choice though.

Not only are the Reds one of Europe’s biggest clubs, but Klopp has proven in the past – and present – that if you’re good enough, he’ll give you chances.

Tomorrow could be a fine example of that because Harvey Elliott is in contention to start against Chelsea at Anfield – and he only turned 18 in April.

That right there proves that Klopp wasn’t bluffing when he reportedly promised Clark he’d get chances under him and you really can’t blame the teenager for making this move.
