What is your favourite film of the year so far?

While many moviegoers considered 2020 to be a disappointing year for cinema, this year has arguably already been a significant step up, with many being invited back for the big screen experience in numerous territories.

Such releases as The Suicide Squad, Old, Pig, Spiral: From the Book of Saw, Joji, Nobody, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and beyond have attracted attention, whether on the big or small screen.

However, as you’ll surely be aware, there is still plenty of enticing entertainment to anticipate for the remainder of 2021.

One of the latest to attract attention is Chehre, the latest project from director Rumy Jafry.

It’s a title that some audiences have been chronicling for some time, eager to finally see it unveiled. Fortunately, it has arrived and the hype is real. So, here’s where to watch Chehre…

Where to watch Chehre: Is the 2021 movie streaming?

  • Chehre is screening in cinemas from Friday, August 27th 2021. As of yet, there is no information regarding when it will be made available on streaming platforms.

So, if you’re set on seeing it upon initial release, the big screen is undoubtedly the place to be.

Over in the UK, multiplexes like Odeon and Cineworld are showing it, so be sure to check in with your local cinema for potential showtimes. As it’s not a big Hollywood blockbuster, screenings aren’t exactly as frequent as one may hope. Nevertheless, its distribution at multiplexes is a welcome treat for Hindi cinema enthusiasts.

It was originally scheduled to release in the summer of 2020 but was delayed, like many other films, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As for what to expect, this thriller rife with mystery follows an elderly man with a taste for games. He and a circle of friends conduct a mock trial and aim to determine whether true justice has been served. If not, they attempt to make sure that isn’t the case.

The critical verdict is now out, but be sure to make your minds up for yourselves. Now that you know where to watch Chehre, let’s talk about that cast…

“Numbers don’t count, people do…”

Ahead of the film’s release, its producer – Anand Pandit – sat down in conversation with Outlook India and was asked how excited he was for the release and whether the box-office figures generally bother him:

“Of course, I am excited. There have been many delays in the release owing to the pandemic and finally, we are about to bring this passion project to the big screen. As a producer, box-office numbers matter but as this pandemic has taught us, numbers don’t count, people do.”

He added: “So, this film is dedicated to all the people who have helped us come this far, who contributed their energy to complete this film and to all the daily wage workers, the exhibitors and cinema owners, the spot boys and pre and post-production professionals who have faced so many challenges during these difficult times.”

Chehre opens in cinemas on Friday, August 27th 2021.
