Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen remains unconvinced a move back to England in the form of a transfer to Championship side Sheffield United is right for him, as reported by Calciomercato.

If last Wednesday was a sign of how life without Aaron Ramsdale is going to be for the Blades, god help Slavisa Jokanovic.

Shorn of their regular number one, who was busy dotting the Is and crossing the Ts on a £24 million move to Arsenal, Sheffield United looked all at sea during a horrifying 4-0 defeat at promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion.

Michael Verrips endured a nightmare debut of Jonathan Woodgate proportions at the Hawthorns and found himself back on the bench for the next game.

Wes Foderingham got the nod for Saturday’s shock home defeat to relegation candidates Huddersfield Town and, while the former Rangers keeper held his own against the Terriers, Jokanovic is desperate to bring in a new shot-stopper before the transfer window closes next week.

Would Robin Olsen be the perfect Aaron Ramsdale replacement at Sheffield United?

Unfortunately, after impressing on loan at Everton and making one of the saves of the tournament during Sweden’s Euro 2020 stalemate with Spain, Olsen has concerns about joining a club currently sitting in the Championship relegation zone.

According to Calciomercato, the experienced shot-stopper is one of many players placed on the transfer list by Jose Mourinho’s Roma – alongside World Cup winner Steven Nzonzi, Tottenham flop Federico Fazio and ex-PSG playmaker Javier Pastore.

With two years left on his contract, it seems unlikely Roma will loan out Olsen for a second straight season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, bids in the region of £5 million would be considered for a man linked with West Ham before David Moyes brought in Alphonse Areola instead.

Calm, commanding and self-confident, Olsen may lack the spectacular reactions of Ramsdale but, if an under-fire Sheffield United want a reliable replacement, look no further.

Convincing him to sign on the dotted line, however, will be another matter.

The Blades have also been linked with QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng.
