Celtic have been watching Dundee United defender Kerr Smith – but a move to England now seems more likely with a host of Premier League clubs keen.

That’s according to the Daily Record, who claim that Celtic have been scouting Smith ahead of a possible move.

For now though, Celtic are considered ‘unlikely’ to make a move for Smith, with a move to England now more likely.

Crystal Palace and Southampton are both planning to make moves for the defender, with ‘major six-figure’ offers imminent before next week’s transfer deadline.

The Scottish Sun add that Leeds United and Leicester City are also keen on Smith ahead of the transfer window closing.

Smith, 16, has come through the ranks at Dundee United, and could be their latest big success story.

Ryan Gauld, Stuart Armstrong and Andrew Robertson are just some of the players to have emerged at Tannadice and become stars elsewhere.

Smith could be the latest player to leave Dundee United and play elsewhere, with something of a bidding war expected before the deadline.

Celtic and Leeds appear to be behind Palace and Southampton at this point, but you just never know as the window nears its end.
