John Terry praised Romelu Lukaku and Emile Smith Rowe on his Instagram story during Chelsea’s 2-0 win at Arsenal on Sunday.

Inside 15 minutes, Lukaku marked his second debut for Chelsea with a goal and Terry was impressed with the Belgian’s run after he laid the ball off out wide before poking home from a yard out.

As Lukaku turned, he bullied and spun Arsenal’s Pablo Mari inside out, as the centre-back couldn’t deal with the Chelsea man’s brute strength.

But whilst Arsenal suffered more misery in the Premier League, one player that stood out for Terry was their playmaker, Smith Rowe.

These were the messages that Terry posted on his Instagram story.

On Lukaku: “What a start,” said Terry. “Watch the run after he lays it off.”

He then added later on about Arsenal’s expert ball-carrier: “Emile Smith Rowe is a player.”

Terry added the above caption with a clip of Smith-Rowe receiving the ball on the halfway line in the 83rd minute, with his back to goal, before riding off challenges from two Chelsea players and then driving at their defence.

For Chelsea, it two wins from two, including clean sheets in both, as they have got their Premier League season off to the perfect start.

They sit top of the table and are setting the pace during the early stages of the new season.

But it’s the complete opposite for Mikel Arteta, who has suffered two opening defeats and they are searching for their first points ahead of their showdown with Manchester City next week.

If things have gone from bad to worse for Arsenal then the problems will only mount when they face-off against the Premier League champions.

This could get seriously messy for the Gunners because if it continues like this then Arteta won’t be in the job too long.
