Cagliari have reluctantly agreed to a deal involving midfielder Nahitan Nandez leaving the club for a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
That’s according to La Nuova Sardegna, who claim that the deal isn’t exactly what Cagliari were looking for this summer.
They state that Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini wanted the €36million (£31million) release clause in Nandez’s contract paid.
Tottenham allegedly had no intention of paying that kind of money, and have instead struck a loan deal for the Uruguayan.
That deal will see Tottenham pay a €10million (£8.6million) loan fee, plus an obligatory purchase clause between €15million and €20million (£13million and £17million) next summer.
That takes the deal to a maximum of around £26million, some £5million short of the price Cagliari ideally wanted.

This is more clever work from Fabio Paratici at Tottenham, who has already struck two Serie A loan deals for Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini and defender Cristian Romero.
Both deals will likely turn permanent in 2022, and Nandez looks set to follow suit with Tottenham nearing a deal.
The Uruguayan international, 25, is a versatile and energetic midfielder with outstanding work rate and tenacity, with Paratici seemingly a fan from his Serie A days.
