Harry Redknapp has said that Arsenal trio Kieran Tierney, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe excite him, as quoted in The Sun.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager believes that the current Arsenal team is very ordinary.

However, there are three players whom Redknapp really rates – left-back Tierney, Saka – who can play as a left-back, winger or in midfield – and attacking midfielder Smith Rowe.

Redknapp wrote in The Sun: “This is the most ordinary Arsenal team I’ve seen for a long, long time and the best they can hope for is top six. But, to be honest, I think even that will prove beyond them.

“It’s ironic, because Kieran Tierney, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe are three of the best young talents around. But apart from them, there’s not a great deal else to excite you.”

Does Harry Redknapp have a point?

Arsenal had a poor season in 2020-21, and Mikel Arteta’s side also lost to Brentford in their opening Premier League game of the new campaign.

Things are not looking rosy for Arsenal at the moment, but the Gunners do have some wonderful players.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have had a bad season in 2020-21, but the Gabon international is still a very good striker.

Ben White, signed from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window, is a promising defender who was part of the England squad that reached the Euro 2020 final this summer.

Martin Odegaard, signed from Real Madrid this summer, is also a very promising young player.

Arsenal are in a rebuilding phase now and are not going to challenge for the Premier League title anytime soon.

However, things could change in two or three years’ time if what Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Technical Director Edu are doing comes to fruition.
