CM Punk is back! After a seven-year hiatus, the UFC fighter made his debut at the AEW’s Rampage. But why did he leave WWE?

Over the years, Punk has gained a large following for showcasing magnificent skill and talent. Unfortunately, in 2014, he decided to bid goodbye to his career in WWE. His retirement came as a shock to many as it was also the prime year for Punk. Now, years later, he is ready to make a comeback.

Why did CM Punk leave WWE?

As per Media Referee, Punk decided to leave WWE because of his health. Over the years, Punk suffered several injuries due to which he was unable to perform to his full potential. At the same time, the pressure to give the viewers a great fight to watch got to the star.

Finally, he decided to take a step back and focus on his health. Despite the break, Punk made sure he stays active. In 2014, Punk had announced h was joining UFC.

He said at that time: “This is my new career, 100 percent. I’m going to go full steam ahead, all systems go after today, and it’s going to be fun.” However, it looks like he could not stay away from wrestling for long as Punk returned for AEW Rampage.

Wrestler’s debut at AEW explored

Punk is not waiting any longer to get back to fighting. After making his debut at the AEW Rampage, the star announced he would be facing Darby Allin on September 5 at All Out.

At the same time, he did not hold back while greeting his fans. Punk went ahead and interacted with some of them. Meanwhile, attendees also received a T-Shirt and an ice cream. There is no doubt that even years after his hiatus, the crowd continues to cheer for him as they did during his fights.

Punk further admitted that he was thrilled to be back and had a few scores to settle. Judging by his words, it looks like fans can expect a number of events with his name in.

Twitter reacts to star’s return

It did not take long for Twitter to react to Punk’s return. One user wrote: “Not gonna lie, I cried like a Japanese schoolgirl watching Punk return. In all seriousness, watching @CMPunk got me through a really tough time period in my life. So f’n ecstatic watching the Prodigal Son return to pro-wrestling after 7+ years.”

Another added: “I saw his entrance 5 times already and I haven’t even heard him speak on the microphone yet. I literally have goosebumps, this is surreal to see. He was obviously one of my favorites, this is awesome to see CM Punk back.”

“I am still shaking. We waited SEVEN YEARS for this moment and it was so, so worth it. Welcome back, CM Punk,” wrote another.
