The popular American soap opera Days of Our Lives has returned from its hiatus during the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 event, returning to its usual schedule on NBC. The soap took a two-week break during the beginning of the month and returned on August 9.

This year has already seen the departure of Suzanne Rogers and Greg Vaughan and now three other actors are set to join the exit roster. These departures will bring current plot points to a head, including Sami’s kidnapping after she cheated on E.J., as well as Ben’s kidnapping of Ciara to stop her from marrying Theo.

Is Claire Leaving Days of Our Lives?

Cameron Johnson, who plays Theo, will also be leaving at the same time as Durant, and their characters have been written to leave for South Africa together.

It was suggested that Durant and Johnson are leaving the soap to pursue bigger projects, similar to former actor and Supernatural star Jensen Ackles.

Who is the Other Actor Leaving the Soap?

  • In addition to Durant and Johnson’s departure, it was reported by Soap Opera Network that Alison Sweeney will also be leaving.

Sweeney has played the character, Sami Brady, periodically since 1987, and the character will inevitably leave Salem after she is kidnapped. Reports also stated that Sweeney has already filmed additional scenes that will aid in concluding her story arc.

To end on a high note, a familiar face will be returning to the show too. Taking the reigns of their character once again will be Melissa Reeves, returning to play Jennifer Horton Deveraux in December. Cady McClain stepped in to portray Jennifer while Reeves decided not to return to set during the pandemic.
