It looks as though actor Danny DeVito has earned the blue tick back on Twitter after previously getting unverified.
Twitter users couldn’t work out why DeVito had the verification badge taken away from him.
Did Danny DeVito get unverified on Twitter?
Yep, DeVito got unverified on Twitter and we’re just as confused as you are.
If you’re not familiar, Danny DeVito is a pretty big deal in Hollywood, starring in the likes of Matilda, Deck The Halls, and TV show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
So, you can understand that outrage sparked after the A-lister was stripped from his Twitter verification badge.
Prior to becoming unverified, DeVito had tweeted support for striking Nabisco workers, and fans felt that the tweet may have had something to do with the whole ordeal.
The actor wrote: “Support Nabisco workers striking for humane working hours, fair pay, outsourcing jobs. NO CONTRACTS NO SNACKS.”
DeVito was, of course, referring to the striking workers who are employed by Nabisco, the makers of Oreo cookies and Ritz Crackers.
Actor’s disappearing blue tick sparks outrage
After DeVito’s blue tick disappeared, fans were not happy – and they weren’t afraid to let Twitter know.
One confused user tweeted: “Wait, why tf did Danny lose his blue check?? I thought that was just to verify one’s identity.”
Another wrote: “hey @verified what gives?”
Somebody else took to Twitter to write: “Guess being @verified doesn’t mean what it used to.”
Danny DeVito gets Twitter verification back
It seems as though the unverified period didn’t last very long, because DeVito’s blue tick has been reinstated.
It isn’t completely clear why the Hollywood actor was stripped of verification and both DeVito and Twitter are yet to comment.
Let’s hope that it doesn’t happen again!
