According to 90min, West Ham are considering a move for Luuk de Jong as their continue their search for a striker to compete with Michail Antonio.

What’s the story?

Well, David Moyes is currently thinking about signing the 30-year-old.

You may remember De Jong from his brief stint in the Premier League with Newcastle, where he made 12 appearances without scoring a goal.

Since then, the 38-cap Netherlands international has done well across Europe.

De Jong moved to PSV Eindhoven, where he scored a remarkable 112 goals in 204 games before securing a €15m (£13m) move to Sevilla.

The towering frontman has only mustered up 19 goals in 94 games in Spain – not the worst, but nowhere near the standard of his Eredivisie form.

Interestingly, West Ham might be in luck thanks to Wolves.

90min add that De Jong is currently available, as Sevilla are close to wrapping up a £12m deal to sign Rafa Mir from Wolves.

In our view, this has the potential to be an outstanding signing.

Yes, it’s slightly concerning that De Jong failed to score a single Premier League goal.

However, his lanky 6ft 2in frame – and excellent hold-up ability – makes him a fantastic target man for West Ham to play off.

The smaller forwards at the London Stadium, such as Jarrod Bowen and Saïd Benrahma, will surely flourish next to De Jong.

With plenty of Champions League experience under his belt, De Jong has the tools to succeed in east London.

Seeing as he’s available, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this deal accelerate if West Ham step up their interest with a concrete approach.
