Dominic Solanke likened Leeds United loanee, Leif Davis, to Dutch legend Arjen Robben on Instagram after he made his full debut for Bournemouth on Wednesday.

Even though Davis is a fullback by trade, he was played out on the right-flank by Scott Parker last night, as the Cherries beat Birmingham City 2-0 in the Championship.

It was a positive and encouraging first start for Davis, who moved to the South Coast from Leeds this summer on a loan deal that should be made permanent in 12 months time.

Nonetheless, when the Elland Road academy product took to his Instagram to share his thoughts on yesterday’s game, it sparked some responses from his fellow professionals.

Bournemouth’s £19m striker (BBC Sport), Solanke, who scored the opening goal yesterday wrote: “Love it, Robben”.

Whilst Luke Ayling added, “Go on the boy'”. Bournemouth midfielder Gavin Kilkenny also wrote: “What a player.”

But with Solanke labelling Davis as ‘Robben’, another one of the Leeds loanee’s new teammates opted to liken him to another superstar player, this time it was ‘Bale’, as Jordan Zemuara wrote in the comments section.

Either way, the Newcastle-born player is proving to be a popular figure in the South Coast already.

This is a great chance for Davis to make a name for himself in England’s second tier, which could eventually land him a regular gig in the Premier League.

From Kalvin Phillips to Mason Mount, there have been plenty of current England internationals who first made a name for themselves in the Championship before thriving with the elite.

Nonetheless, Bournemouth, who were beaten in last season’s play-offs, are one of the favourites to earn promotion this time around.

Parker understands how to get over that line because he did exactly just that with Fulham two seasons ago and anything less with the Cherries will probably see him being out of a job.
