Dharmesh Sheth told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (18/08/21 at 5:20 pm) that Ismaila Sarr is ‘happy’ at Watford amid rumours that Liverpool want to sign him.

The Sky reporter debunked the rumours that Sarr wants to leave this summer, with Liverpool waiting in the wings to snap him up.

Sarr produced an outstanding performance over the weekend after he scored and assisted during Watford’s 3-2 win over Aston Villa.

But given the information that has been provided to Sky reporter Sheth, it seems Liverpool won’t be signing the winger and it would take £80 million to snap up his talents.

“There was a report in the paper that Liverpool are interested in Ismaila Sarr,” said Sheth. “The report also said that Sarr had asked to leave Watford.

“Now, I have made a few calls and I have been told that Sarr has not asked to leave. The quote I was given, ‘he wouldn’t ask to leave, he was happy’.

“Furthermore, Watford aren’t looking to sell Sarr. He has got a contract until 2024.

“And it would take silly money (to sign him). One number I was given was £80 million for Watford to even consider coming to the table.”

In terms of Sarr being a Liverpool player in the future, it all seems possible because he does tick the boxes in what Jurgen Klopp looks for from his wide areas.

But given the fee that has been touted for his possible talents then there’s no way Liverpool would smash their club record for him.

There’s no doubt that Sarr has the qualities to transform himself to the levels that someone like his fellow countryman, Sadio Mane, has reached during his time on Merseyside.

And whilst it’s highly unlikely a Sarr-Mane link-up will happen at Anfield this season, it’s one that Liverpool supporters can still dream of possibly seeing next season.
