PSV Eindhoven star Noni Madueke “resembles Kylian Mbappe” but should be wary of joining Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur or Leeds United so soon, former Netherlands international Gerald Vanenburg has told Voetbal International.

While there’s no doubting the potential of a 19-year-old winger who’s started this season like a runaway train, whether Madueke is ready to return to the most competitive and highly scrutinised league in European football is another matter entirely.

Tottenham have been tipped to bring the Barnet-born whizzkid back to his old stomping ground, two years after the club’s former U16 skipper turned down a new contract in north London in favour of enrolling in PSV’s feted finishing school.

Madueke has also been linked with a £20 million move to Arsenal, while Leeds United and Crystal Palace have made enquiries too (The Standard).

But after watching Memphis Depay and Steven Bergwijn struggle to settle on British soil, PSV legend Vanenburg is quick to remind the England U21 international the grass isn’t always greener elsewhere.

Is Noni Madueke ready for Tottenham return?

“Madueke can really become very good. He is a very special player. His qualities resemble Kylian Mbappe – drive, speed and scoring ability. The top clubs are all crazy about him,” says Vanenburg, who won the European cup with PSV in the 1980s.

“(Madueke) must give himself time and stay at PSV for a few years. Memphis Depay and Steven Bergwijn must be examples for him.

“Depay left too early and failed at Manchester United, Bergwijn has a hard time at Tottenham Hotspur. If (Madueke) has patience and continues to develop at PSV, the top of European football is reserved for him.”

In six games, Madueke the “megatalent” has scored five times for PSV this season, including the winner in Saturday’s Eredivisie opener against Heracles Almelo.
