More details about the upcoming K-drama ‘Snowdrop’ staring Blackpink’s Jisoo have just been revealed, but has a release date been confirmed?

2021 has already been a fantastic year for fans of Korean dramas, and there is still four months of fantastic K-content left to watch.

However, one of the final titles of 2021 has particularly caught the attention of fans, Snowdrop.

In October 2020, it was announced that a new JTBC series, titled ‘Snowdrop’ was in production with K-pop superstar and BLACKPINK singer, Kim Ji-Soo – better known as Jisoo, in a leading role.

Snowdrop: Release date

  • JTBC has not confirmed a release date for Snowdrop, but HITC predicts that the K-drama will premiere on Saturday, December 11th, 2021.

The official word is that Snowdrop will debut in 2021 and will be the final title for JTBC’s Saturday – Sunday television programming block. However, we can work out a timeframe for the premiere based on the networks upcoming series.

‘Nevertheless’ (finale this weekend) will be followed by ‘Lost‘, a 16-episode series starring Jeon Do-Yeon and Ryoo Joon-Yeol. Lost (also known as Human Disqualification) will be followed by ‘Koo Kyung-Yi’, a 12-episode drama about a police detective.

‘Snowdrop’ will be broadcast after the conclusion of Koo Kyung-Yi, meaning the series will premiere, at the earliest, on December 11th.

Fans should note that any week-long breaks in either Lost or Koo Kyung-Yi would push the premiere to December 18th or 25th. This article will be updated as soon as JTBC confirm the launch details.

Snowdrop: Plot

Snowdrop is a love story set in 1987’s South Korea’s Democratic Movement between ‘Im Soo-Ho’ and ‘Eun Young-Cho’.

Im Soo-Ho is a Korean-German student at a prestigious university and after being attacked at a pro-democracy protest, barges into a female dorm at Hosoo Woman’s University one day covered in blood.

Eun Young-Cho, the phone operator in the dorm, helps to hide Soo-Ho from the government and dresses his wounds.

“However, it is revealed that Soo-ho is not who he appears to be. Against the backdrop of political upheaval, the pair’s story unfolds and the two develop a romantic relationship.” – Synopsis.

Will Snowdrop be on Netflix?

At the time of writing, Netflix nor JTBC have confirmed that Snowdrop will be simulcast on the streaming platform.

However, the two partners have a positive relationship, with Netflix broadcasting fellow JTBC titles Run On, Sisyphus: The Myth and Law School.

The platform also launched an original title about Blackpink last year, Light Up The Sky.

Hopefully, the streaming giant will acquire the international streaming rights for Snowdrop and bring the K-drama to a larger, global audience.

This article will be updated as soon as more information on Snowdrop is revealed.
