Premier League newcomers Watford are closing in on a £7.5 million deal for Torino defender Lyanco while also making a £4 million bid for AEK Athens’ Levi Garcia, according to Sky Sports and Homme du Match.

Xisco Munoz’s side might have begun the new season in fine fettle, an Ismaila Sarr-inspired Watford out-playing and out-fighting Aston Villa on the opening day, but no one at Vicarage Road is getting carried away just yet.

A Villa side mourning the loss of talisman Jack Grealish, while missing star striker Ollie Watkins and ball-winner Douglas Luiz, looked about as undercooked as a pan of scallops served up on Kitchen Nightmares during Saturday’s 3-2 defeat.

Although Watford have been among the busiest sides anywhere in the top-flight during the summer transfer window, bringing in nine new players, they aren’t done yet.

Will Watford make two more signings this month?

Despite the fact that Munoz can call on Christian Kabasele, William Troost-Ekong, Craig Cathcart and Francisco Sierralta, another centre-back appears to be the priority.

According to Sky Sports, Watford are closing in on a £7.5 million deal for Lyanco

Torino’s out-of-favour Brazilian was a target for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United a year ago. But it seems that Watford will win the race for the one-time Sao Paulo youngster 12 months on.

Homme du Match claims that Levi Garcia, the 23-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international, is another player on the club’s radar.

A versatile wide man who can also play through the middle, former AZ Alkmaar youngster Garcia produced six goals and seven assists for Greek outfit AEK Athens last season.

It is understood that Watford have made a test-the-water bid in the region of £4 million.

According to reports in Greece, however, AEK want closer to £11 million for the speedy attacker.
