Rio Ferdinand has claimed that he has been left ‘baffled’ by Arsenal’s decision to part ways with Joe Willock this summer, as he told his own YouTube channel.
The Hale-End academy product was on-loan at Newcastle last season and goal-shy Arsenal allowed him to leave for the North East club on a permanent basis after those performances at St James’ Park.
Mikel Arteta needs more attacking threat from his midfield players, so it has to be questioned why he and Edu have allowed a player who can provide that to leave?
Premier League and Manchester United legend, Ferdinand, shared that there is ‘quite a lot wrong’ in North London, as he shared his thoughts on the Willock transfer.
“The big thing for me is Willock,” said Ferdinand. “How many goals he scored last season? seven, eight or nine goals?
“But they are letting goals leave the squad like that? I don’t know. I was baffled by that one – there is quite a lot wrong there, at the moment, I hope Arteta gets it right.”

All eyes will be on how Willock performs at St James’ Park because it wouldn’t be a surprise if he outscores Arsenal’s midfielders this season.
It would be embarrassing on Arsenal’s part if that were to happen because it’s not the first time those in the North London boardroom have been questioned about a transfer.
Emiliano Martinez is ripping it up at Aston Villa, whilst Matteo Guendouzi is also showcasing his talents away from North London and Willock might be the next one on that list.
