Silentó rose to fame after his song ‘Watch Me Whip/Nae Nae’ became an instant hit in 2015. Now, six years on, fans seem keen to know more about the rapper’s net worth.

The 23-year-old star, whose real name is  Richard “Ricky” Lamar Hawk, became a household name overnight thanks to his Watch Me Whip song.

Even though it has been years since it first came out, people seem to be familiar with the song like it was released yesterday. However, the rapper did not build on his initial success and his visibility in the industry decreased over time.

What is Silentó’s net worth?

The rapper’s success with Watch Me Whip/ Nae Nae was incredible. One could say, 2015 was a successful period for the rapper as he was invited to several events due to the song’s reach.

His music even became a hit in multiple countries. It landed on the number three position in the US and on number nine in Australia.

In 2015, Silento won Soul Train Music Award for Best Dance Performance for Watch Me Whip‘s music video. He was also nominated for Teen Choice Award and an MTV Video Music Award.

Even though Silentó failed to win in those categories, the popularity of the song did not decrease. As of now, the official music video has over 1.8 billion views.

Silentó’s career over the years

When Silentó released Watch Me Whip/ Nae Nae, everyone thought he would be the next big rapper in the industry. However, his fame was short-lived. He released the song when he was only 16, and years after that, his music has struggled to make the same impact.

The rapper has had his troubles away from music as well. On August 28, 2020, he was arrested for alleged domestic abuse. However, he was released shortly after the arrest. Following this, the rapper landed himself in trouble once again as he was arrested for allegedly attacking strangers with a hatchet.

Just when you thought that he was in enough trouble, the rapper found a way to get arrested for a third time on October 23, 2020. This time, it was because he was allegedly driving at “143 mph on Interstate 85.”

Despite this, his YouTube channel continues to do well, mainly because of his 2016 hit. At present, the rapper has 4.5 million subscribers. The last video that he uploaded was nine months ago and it was a song titled Bad. Unlike his previous songs, this only clocked about 175,000 views.

The last two hits by the rapper came three years ago when he released Wild and Talk to me. Both of these videos have clocked millions of views since their release.
