Fabio Paratici has asked Cagliari to sanction a season-long loan for Tottenham Hotspur to sign Nahitan Nandez with an obligatory purchase clause, according to Calciomercato.
Spurs are striving to bring the Uruguayan to north London this summer after his proposed move to Inter Milan collapsed. The Nerazzurri had seduced Nandez with their approach but scrapped negotiations following lengthy discussions with Cagliari earlier in the window.
Paratici is prepared to offer Cagliari an onerous upfront instalment for Tottenham to sign Nandez on loan. The proposal would also feature an obligation to buy the 25-year-old next summer for a total fee of €30m (£25.5m).

Calciomercato do not note if Paratici suggested any stipulations that could see Tottenham avoid purchasing Nandez from Cagliari next summer. His Serie A side would, seemingly, be open to a temporary deal that carries a permanent clause, though.
Gli Isolani agreed a similar deal with Inter Milan, but failed to settle on the final terms of the transfer. Gazzetta dello Sport reported the Nerazzurri offered €5m (£4m) upfront, and would pay the midfielder €3m-a-year (£49k-p/w).
Paratici may have put forward a similarly significant upfront instalment, but could face difficulties with the total value. Centotrentuno noted Cagliari value Nandez at €36m (£31m) while citing Tottenham’s interest recently, considerably less than they are now offering.
Why is Paratici targeting Tottenham deal for Cagliari’s Nandez?
Paratici is unlikely to end Tottenham’s pursuit of Nandez if Cagliari reject his initial loan-to-buy offer worth £25.5m. Spurs’ Managing Director is a big believer in the 41-cap star, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting he feels he will improve Nuno Espirito Santo side’s reliability.
Nandez’s combative presence in the engine room and creativity when out on the wing are often lauded, as well. His agent, Pablo Bentancur, told Calciomercato in 2019:
“I had no doubts about his adaptation to Italian football, it’s perfect for his characteristics. Nandez is a great player. The fans always like him because he leaves every last drop of sweat on the pitch.”
