West Ham United are preparing one last bid for Jesse Lingard with Manchester United ready to cut their asking price for the midfielder.
That’s according to The Express, who claim that United are prepared to sell Lingard for £20million before the transfer deadline later this month.
Don’t think this is because Lingard missed Saturday’s win over Leeds United though.
Lingard was isolating after a positive COVID-19 test, meaning he was unavailable to face Marcelo Bielsa’s men at Old Trafford.
It’s stated that West Ham have already had one bid rejected for Lingard, but have never given up hope of brining him back to East London.
Lingard joined the Hammers on loan in January, seeking first-team football under David Moyes having struggled for playing time at United.
The 28-year-old was a sensation with West Ham, hitting nine goals and four assists in just 16 Premier League games under Moyes whilst earning the tag of a ‘total player’ from Gianfranco Zola.

That’s a ridiculous record, but it may not take Lingard any closer to the United first team with Jason Sancho now on board with the Red Devils.
There is now real hope that West Ham can bring Lingard back to East London, and a final bid is now expected before the transfer deadline as they make one last effort.
With Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals all impressing against Newcastle on Sunday, Lingard would provide West Ham with even more quality going forward, and the next two weeks will be key.
