Celtic are set to miss out on Manchester City defender Yan Couto as the Brazilian prepares to undergo a medical with Sporting Braga.
That’s according to the Glasgow Times, who claim that Couto has decided on a move to Portugal despite Celtic rolling out the red carpet for him.
Couto was invited to watch Celtic take on Jablonec in the Europa League qualifiers last week, with the Bhoys treating him as a VIP ahead of a potential deal.
The problem for Celtic was that other clubs were keen too, and Braga now appear to have beaten Ange Postecoglou’s men to Couto’s signature.
A medical is now imminent for Couto, who was keen on signing for Celtic but had ultimately picked Braga instead.
Couto, 19, has been backed for a huge future and has already shown potential as a quick and attack-minded right back.
Celtic have a great relationship with City, but it seems like this decision was just down to Couto after the Premier League champions allowed him to pick his next destination.
Celtic are now focusing on a cash deal for Legia Warsaw right back Josip Juranovic, prioritising a full-time deal for him having missed out on taking Couto on loan.
