Gareth Crooks has told BBC Sport that he hopes Leeds United’s weekend defeat to Manchester United isn’t a sign of things to come.

The former striker shared that Leeds fans ‘deserve better than that’ after they conceded five at Old Trafford.

Leeds will get the obvious of ‘is this second season syndrome?’ And the only way they can shut all of that up is by putting things right against Everton this coming weekend.

Nonetheless, this is what Crooks had to say about Leeds’ start to the new season.

“As for Leeds, what was that?” asked Crooks. “What happened to the team that frightened the life out of Liverpool at the start of last season?

“I hope that is not a sign of things to come. Leeds fans have waited far too long to see their team’s return to the Premier League and deserve better than that.”

What will perhaps annoy Leeds fans more is that they have conceded 11 goals at Old Trafford since their return to the Premier League.

They are perhaps the last club they wanted to get thumped by in such a manner, but one thing is for sure, such a result won’t happen at Elland Road.

It’s been a long while such Leeds and Manchester United locked horns in the Premier League at a packed-out Elland Road, so that reverse fixture is one many will be looking forward to.
