Shamrock Rovers defender Liam Scales is snubbing interest from Southampton in favour of a move to Celtic before the transfer deadline.
That’s according to The Irish Mirror, who claim that Scales has been targeted for a move to the South Coast this summer.
Southampton just lost defender Jannik Vestergaard to Leicester City and are unsurprisingly in the market for another addition in defence.

Scales has seemingly caught their eye, fitting in with new recruits Valentino Livramento, Dynel Simeu and Adam Armstrong as talents for the future.
However, Scales prefers a move to Celtic because Ange Postecoglou can give him immediate first-team football at Parkhead.

Scales seemingly doesn’t fancy sitting in the shadows at Southampton, and would prefer to have a shot at playing time with Celtic.
A left footed defender who would fit perfectly as a left-sided centre back, Scales is a man in demand with a number of English clubs keen.
Celtic look set to win the race though, with Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley expecting a deal to be done before the transfer deadline.
Scales will cost around £500,000 plus add-ons, and Celtic may see this as a major transfer win if they can pip Southampton to a deal.
