Gary Neville has said on his podcast that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is not happy with strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

The former Manchester United star believes that the way Arteta spoke about the two Arsenal players ahead of the game against Brentford last Friday night suggests that something is not right.

Ahead of the Premier League game, Arteta told Sky Sports that the two strikers were “unwell”, which is why they missed the London derby.

Neville said on his podcast: “I did think there was something in that. His interview before the game told me he wasn’t too happy with Aubameyang and Lacazette.

“I thought that there was something there that just tell you that. Usually when the players are ill, there would be genuine concern from a manager. ‘We have lost them on the day of the game, we wish them both well’. He sort of pushed it away a little bit, as if something had gone on.”

What now for Aubameyang and Lacazette?

Arsenal struggled defensively against Brentford, and the Gunners were also disappointing in attack.

It was clear against Brentford that the Gunners missed their two senior strikers.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Aubameyang and Lacazette now.

The Gabon international striker struggled last season, while the France international is out of contract next summer.

Barcelona are surprisingly being linked with the two players, but it is hard to see the Spanish club being able to afford to either due to their financial problems.

Arsenal surely cannot sell both Aubameyang and Lacazette this summer.

Perhaps we will get a clearer picture regarding the two Arsenal players in the coming days.
