Serie A star Takehiro Tomiyasu has admitted he would relish the prospect of playing Premier League football with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and West Ham United all reportedly interested, speaking to Nishinippon.
Of those London clubs, only one can really be proud of their defensive efforts this weekend.
While Arsenal began the season with the most Arsenal defeat imaginable – battered and bruised by the ferocity and long throws of newly promoted Brentford – David Moyes’ West Ham were led a merry dance by the fancy feet of Allan Saint-Maximin, only the brilliance of their forward line eclipsing the nervousness of a usually rock-solid back four.
Tottenham, in contrast, were disciplined, diligent and brilliantly organised, producing an early season coupon-buster during yesterday’s battling 1-0 triumph over reigning champions Manchester City – even without Harry Kane.
Tomiyasu, then, would have one heck of a challenge on his hands ousting the likes of Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez, as long as a revitalised Spurs can prove their debut performance under Nuno Espirito Santo is the rule rather than an eye-catching exception.

According to Calciomercato, Tomiyasu is on the verge of joining Tottenham, a £17 million deal having been agreed with Bologna.
“I think (the Premier League) is an environment that can raise your growth,” says the versatile 22-year-old.
“If there’s an environment where one can play at a high level, I would like to try it.”
Alongside West Ham and Arsenal, Tomiyasu has also been linked with a move to a Wolverhampton Wanderers side crying out for a commanding central defender even before Jamie Vardy rolled back the years and gave Conor Coady a nasty case of twisted blood during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium.
According to Sky, however, Tomiyasu has his heart set on Spurs – and yesterday’s dramatic and well-deserved victory over the champions will have done little to change that.
