Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that the Gunners are about to miss out on Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

What’s the story?

The Athletic reported late last night (11:11pm) that Chelsea striker Abraham is on his way to AS Roma despite interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Roma will pay Chelsea £34 million in transfer fee for the 23-year-old.

Arsenal wanted to sign the England international striker, but the North London club did not make an offer.

Former Aston Villa loanee Abraham himself was telling his Chelsea teammates that he wanted to move to Arsenal, according to the report.

Chelsea have also inserted a buy-back clause in the deal. It is worth £68 million, but can be triggered only after two seasons.

What are Arsenal fans saying?

As you can see from the tweets below, Arsenal fans are disappointed that the club are missing out on Abraham, described as “unbelievable” by Manchester City attacking midfielder Jack Grealish during an Instagram Q&A last year when asked about the England international

Well, some of them anyway.

Arsenal do have a strong front-line, but Arteta could do with freshening it up.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is 32 and struggled last season, Alexandre Lacazette has one year left on his contract, it has not happened for Eddie Nketiah yet, and Folarin Balogun is only 20.

Abraham has scored 26 goals in 89 appearances in the Premier League in his career.
