Premier League football finally returns this weekend, and the standout fixture of the opening round is undoubtedly Leeds vs Manchester United.

Fans are back in the grounds this weekend, and there isn’t going to be a more fiery fixture this term than the Roses Derby.

Leeds make the trip across the M62 to face the Red Devils, and it’s fair to say they’ll want a better result than they got last season, being hammered 6-2 at Old Trafford last term.

In order to get the better of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, Marcelo Bielsa will have to get his team selection spot on, and with that in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting their starting XI for this one…

Marcelo Bielsa’s side looks very similar to the one that played the majority of last season.

The 4-1-4-1 formation remains, as does a lot of the personnel.

Illan Meslier starts in goal, while Luke Ayling, Robin Koch and Liam Cooper are in the heart of the defence.

There is one new signing in the backline with Junior Firpo starting at left-back after his move from Barcelona.

Speaking of new signings, Jack Harrison starts ahead of Firpo on the left wing after his long-awaited permanent transfer from Manchester City.

Kalvin Phillips, Stuart Dallas and Mateusz Klich play in the heart of the midfield, meaning there’s no place for Rodrigo or Tyler Roberts as we expect Leeds to play slightly more conservatively in order to avoid another drubbing at Old Trafford.

Rounding off the team, Raphinha and Patrick Bamford start in their respective positions.
