Latest update on star’s conservatorship battle
The singer earned a major victory in the court battle after her father filed his response in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday. Mr Spears announced his decision to step down from his post. However, he failed to give a timetable for his resignation.
According to Variety, his filing also claimed that he needed to wrap up certain matters before he could step down. The court doc reads. “There are no urgent circumstances justifying Mr Spears’ immediate suspension.”
The court filing reads further reads: “There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr Spears as the Conservator of the Estate. … And it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms Spears’ best interests.”
In a statement given to Variety, Britney’s new lawyer Mathew Rosengart claimed: “This is a major victory for Britney Spears.” However, he also revealed that his team are conducting a vigorous investigation into the singer’s father’s conduct over the past 13 years, as her conservator.
When is the singer’s next court hearing?
After the developments on August 12, the court will decide whether or not Mr Spears will remain the conservator of Britney’s estates and finances. For now, the next court date has been scheduled for September 29th. Both, the singer and her fans, are hopeful of her victory.
