Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are now prepared to bid for Real Madrid attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported on the social networking site this morning that Arsenal want to sign Odegaard on a permanent deal.
The 22-year-old Norway international attacking midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal from Madrid.
Romano has said that once Madrid give them ‘the green light’, Arsenal will make the bid to bring the youngster back to the Emirates Stadium.
AS are reporting that Arsenal and Madrid hope to get a deal done soon for €50 million (£42.57m).
Odegaard himself has decided to leave Los Blancos for the Gunners.
Exciting update for Arsenal fans
Odegaard did relatively well for Arsenal during his loan spell.
The youngster scored one goal and gave two assists in nine Premier League starts, and scored one goal in five Europa League starts.

Emile Smith Rowe is the only senior creative midfielder in the Arsenal squad at the moment.
Arsenal manager Arteta needs to bring in another attacking midfielder.
Odegaard is only 22 and is not the finished article yet, but he played for Arsenal for a few months last season and knows the club.
For the right price, Odegaard would be a brilliant permanent signing for Arsenal.
