Frank Lampard has claimed that ‘you can’t discount’ Liverpool and Manchester United from the Premier League title race, as posted by Hayters TV.

But he also feels that the likes of Aston Villa and Leicester can’t also be discounted because they are other teams on the up.

Manchester City ran away with proceedings last season, whilst Chelsea, who were managed by Lampard at the start, were expected to challenge but then faded away before winning the Champions League with Thomas Tuchel.

Lampard was asked whether it’s going to be a straight shootout between Man City and Chelsea next season, as he issued this response.

“No, I think you can’t discount Manchester United,” said Lampard. “They weren’t far off last year. And they have gone again and brought in really impressive signings.

“I think Liverpool will be the same. They missed huge players for a big part of last season and the year before they were one of the best teams you had seen in the Premier League.

“You can’t discount those, as much as you can’t discount the teams pushing those from beneath or just behind.

“Leicester, we saw them win at the weekend. West Ham have improved greatly. Aston Villa, they lose Jack Grealish. But they are bringing in really strong players and a stronger squad. It makes for an exciting league.”

There is a potential four-way race for the Premier League title next season – both Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Well, it will be hyped up on Sky and BT that way.

But, in truth, by February, one of the above teams would have probably walked away with the league, with the bigger race being for the top-four.

The hype in English football doesn’t always match what actually happens out on the pitch, but with crowds coming back into stadiums, it’s going to be interesting to see if that adds a few more twists and turns to proceedings.
