Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly sign a Barcelona player this summer.
In recent days, there has been a lot of silly talk that Lionel Messi – the Lionel Messi – was on Spurs’ radar.
But the mercurial Argentine has officially joined Paris Saint-Germain, ending Tottenham’s 0.000001 percent chance of bringing him to North London.
Messi’s former teammate, however, is a lot more realistic.
According to Sport in Spain, the Lilywhites are interested in signing Barca attacker Martin Braithwaite as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.
Kane is heavily linked with a move away from North London, amid speculation about him joining Manchester City.
And here’s how Barcelona fans reacted to the idea of Spurs signing the Denmark international.
Kane’s goal return at Tottenham is incredible, netting 166 times in 245 outings.
Braithwaite, on the other hand, has scored three Liga goals in 40 appearances for the Camp Nou club and it’s an awful record in comparison to the England international.
Coming into the final weeks of the transfer window, there’ll be a lot more rubbish being touted – evident by the Messi rumour earlier in the week – and this, Braithwaite to Spurs, must be right up there.
Kane is one of Europe’s best number nines and although the Barca man isn’t among the worst, he’s still nowhere near to this level and simply put, it isn’t going to happen.
