According to BILD, Arsenal and Everton have joined Tottenham in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.
Encouragingly for the north London duo, the 24-year-old has been likened to two of the best midfielders to ever grace the game.
Arsenal and Tottenham want Patrick Vieira 2.0
In a feature on Zakaria from the Bundesliga, the 34-cap Switzerland international was compared to Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira.
Zakaria himself has revealed that he knows about comparisons to the French icon.
He also added that he’s been compared to another French maestro in Paul Pogba.
The Bundesliga quote him as saying: “I’ve been compared to Vieira and Pogba – two more players I really respect and, in a way, see as role models. When I watch videos of them I think I’d like to play that way.”
If he’s even half the player Vieira was, Arsenal or Tottenham could land a gem in Zakaria.
Will Denis Zakaria leave this month?

It looks very likely.
Borussia Monchengladbach’s Sporting Director Max Eberl revealed that Zakaria wants to change clubs back in July.
In the meantime, the Arsenal and Tottenham target has refused to sign a new contract, with his current deal expiring next summer.

As a result, his price tag has dropped from £35m to £18m as Borussia Monchengladbach become slightly desperate.
Keep an eye on this saga, as it seems pretty likely that Zakaria will leave this month.
