Leicester City are looking at Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard if James Maddison joins Arsenal, according to Football.London.

What’s the story?

Football.London are reporting that Arsenal are keen on signing Maddison from Leicester in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are holding talks despite having an initial offer turned down.

Now, Leicester want to keep the England international attacking midfielder, but, like any other club, they need to prepare in case an exit does happen.

So, the Foxes have identified United attacking midfielder Lingard as a potential replacement, according to the report.

It is being reported that ‘Lingard is being lined up as a replacement for Maddison in the event that he leaves the club’.

Jesse Lingard to Leicester?

Lingard spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United and did extremely well.

The England international, who can also play as a winger, was given an extended run in the team, and he showed what he is capable of.

The 28-year-old scored nine goals and gave four assists in 16 league games for the Hammers.

ESPN reported last month that Lingard is among a number of players United are willing to sell this summer.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

However, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said last month that Lingard is part of his plans for this season.

It will be interesting to see what happens, but Lingard would not be a bad option for Leicester if Maddison leaves.
