Chelsea-owned Norwich City midfielder Billy Gilmour has wished Liverpool defender Andy Robertson the best of luck on his recovery from injury on Instagram.

Robertson suffered ankle ligament damage during Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

The Guardian have reported that the Scotland international left-back could miss the first month of the new season.

The 27-year-old will certainly miss Liverpool’s opening Premier League game.

Robertson has taken to Instagram to issue an update on his situation, and his Scotland international teammate and Chelsea-owned midfielder Gilmour – now on loan at Norwich – has wished him the best of luck in his recovery.

Liverpool and Chelsea are Premier League title rivals, and it is very encouraging to see Gilmour put aside club rivalry and hope for the best for his Scotland international teammate.

Robertson is one of the best left-backs in the world and is a key figure at Liverpool.

The Scottish defender scored one goal and gave seven assists in the Premier League last season.

The 27-year-old scored two goals and gave 12 assists in the league in 2019-20.

Liverpool will miss Robertson in the games he will sit out, but it is time for Kostas Tsimikas to step up.

The Merseyside club’s fans will hope that Robertson’s injury does not adversely affect the team’s title challenge this season.
