Leicester City are interested in signing Issa Diop from West Ham United in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

The former Premier League champions are reportedly looking for a new defender, and West Ham’s Diop is a player who is on the radar of Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers.

In demand

Leicester are just one of a number of clubs who have been linked with Diop this summer.

FootMercato reported last month that Wolverhampton Wanderers, Southampton and Crystal Palace all are keen on the 24-year-old Frenchman, who told West Ham’s official website in June 2018 that he is “a very ambitious player”.

Could a transfer happen?

Both Leicester and West Ham will be fighting for a place in the Premier League top four this season.

The Hammers will also play in the Europa League this campaign, which means that they need a big and strong squad.

West Ham manager David Moyes will surely not want to strengthen a direct rival.

Unless, of course, the Hammers are made an offer that is simple irresistible.

The 24-year-old Frenchman made 15 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Hammers last season.

Diop scored two goals in those games.

During the 2019-20 campaign, Diop scored three goals and gave one assist in 32 league games for the Hammers.
