It has been reported that the Blades are looking for £40 million as transfer fee for Ramsdale.
Arsenal want to sign the 23-year-old goalkeeper this summer, but the Gunners are ‘baulking’ at the price-tag.
The North London club believe that an offer of £30 million for the Englishman is ‘more appropriate’.
Sensible stance?
Bernd Leno is the first-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal at the moment.
The Germany international is unlikely to lose his status as the number one between the posts for the Gunners this season.
There is no point in Arsenal coughing up £40 million for a 23-year-old goalkeeper who is going to be a back-up, at least for now.
Even £30 million sounds a bit steep.
If the Blades are not willing to negotiate over the transfer fee and are adamant that they will not sell him for any less, then Arsenal should simply walk away.
Yes, Ramsdale was so good against Liverpool in February 2021 that manager Jurgen Klopp described him as “incredible”, as quoted on YorkshireLive at the time, but you simply cannot pay £40 million for a player only to leave him on the substitutes’ bench.
