Bruno Fernandes thinks James Garner has a big future at Manchester United amid reports linking the Premier League starlet with a loan move to Rangers or Nottingham Forest, speaking to MUTV.
Garner isn’t the first Old Trafford youngster to be labelled the “next Michael Carrick”.
And, like Sean Goss, a short-term spell at Ibrox could be a natural next step in the development of a man looking to make good on his potential.
It didn’t really work out for Goss, of course – at Old Trafford or Ibrox for that matter.
Garner, however, would arrive in Glasgow on the back of an outstanding six months at Nottingham Forest, scoring four times from central midfield while establishing himself as one of the most influential playmakers in the Championship.
No wonder Forest want him back.
According to The Sun, Garner is also a target for Slavisa Jokanovic’s promotion-chasing Sheffield United, while Rangers could also step up their interest having already snapped up one Manchester-based starlet in the shape of Charlie McCann.
Whatever this season holds for Garner, Bruno Fernandes is convinced the England U20 ace will one day play alongside him in Manchester United’s midfield.

“Jimmy Garner, I think, is a really good player. I really like him and the way he kicks the ball. He’s really aggressive off the ball too,” says the Portuguese superstar.
Birkenhead-born Garner was labelled the “next Michael Carrick” by Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – and you can see why.
Breaking the lines with piercing passes, the converted centre-half is capable of dictating the game from the middle of the park – just like the five-time Premier League winner.
Perhaps Rangers could use Garner as a youthful alternative to their own tempo-setting playmaker – evergreen 36-year-old Steven Davis.
