Liverpool are on the verge of beating Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City to the signing of Newcastle United youngster Bobby Clark, according to The Chronicle.

What’s the story?

The Chronicle are reporting that Liverpool have struck a deal to sign Clark from Newcastle.

The former Premier League champions have agreed a fee with Newcastle for the 16-year-old.

Liverpool are hoping to announce the transfer ‘in due course’.

Newcastle wanted the midfielder to stay at the club and follow in the footsteps of his father Lee Clark.

However, that is not to be.

Tottenham and City also want the teenage midfielder, but it is Liverpool who have wrapped up the deal.

Big future ahead

Clark is very young, and it is clear that the 16-year-old will head straight into the Liverpool academy.

The midfielder will hope to do well for the Reds’ youth team in the next few years and will then try to push for a place in the senior side.

Tottenham have a strong youth set-up, as do City, but it seems that Clark prefers Liverpool to them.

Liverpool, Tottenham and City’s interest in Clark shows just how good and talented he is.
