West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Southampton made contact with Chelsea over the availability of Tammy Abraham.

What’s the story?

Firstly, you might be wondering why this concerns West Ham.

Well, the east Londoners are believed to have offered £30m to sign the 6-cap England international, who seems to be a major target for David Moyes.

As a result, it seems talkSPORT‘s news about Southampton submitting an enquiry has got nerves jangling over at the London Stadium.

Talk of Abraham joining West Ham has gone quiet ever since the report about their £30m bid emerged.

Of course, Southampton have also just received £30m of their own after Danny Ings joined Aston Villa.

With that money burning a hole in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s pocket, the West Ham fans have every right to be worried.

Surely West Ham could outmuscle Southampton?

If Abraham ends up joining Southampton over West Ham, we’ll be baffled.

Why?

Well, the Irons can offer him Europa League football, and also the chance to continue living in London, where he was born and raised.

From our point of view, we just can’t fathom a scenario in which the Saints beat the Hammers to his signature, unless West Ham shoot themselves in the foot by not offering enough money.

Given the fact West Ham haven’t signed a single player yet this summer – other than Alphonse Areola on loan – it could well come down to that.
