According to Sky Sports, Blackburn have rejected a bid from Crystal Palace for Adam Armstrong, but talks are continuing between the two sides.
What’s the story?
Well, Sky Sports believe Crystal Palace and Southampton have both had offers rejected for the 24-year-old.
Blackburn want £20m for their No.7, with the south Londoners said to be in advanced talks to sign the Englishman.
Southampton, however, have just sold Danny Ings to Aston Villa for £30m, so Ralph Hasenhuttl has the cash to satisfy Blackburn’s demands.
Having said that, Patrick Vieira has added some of the Championship’s finest players to his squad this summer, which could turn Armstrong’s head in our view.
The Eagles have signed Marc Guehi – who excelled for Swansea last term – while the Championship Young Player of the Season in Michael Olise has also arrived.
Who is Adam Armstrong?
If you didn’t already know, the Blackburn marksman is a fine forward who certainly knows where the goal is – to say the least.
Last season, Armstrong scored 28 goals in 40 Championship appearances, playing in an underwhelming Blackburn side who finished 15th.
The fact that Tony Mowbray’s side are far from world beaters makes Armstrong’s goalscoring heroics all the more impressive.
In fact, the diminutive frontman even outscored Belgian hitman Romelu Lukaku in terms of league goals.
The man who Chelsea have just bid £102m for scored 24 goals in Serie A as Inter Milan won the title.
If Crystal Palace can bring Armstrong to Selhurst Park, Vieira will have an extremely exciting bunch of players to work with.
