Hertha Berlin have to offload Leeds United target Matheus Cunha if they are to sign Ligue 1 attacker Maxwel Cornet.
According to Berlin-based publication BZ, the Ivorian attacker is the club’s number one transfer target.
However, Hertha ‘have to sell’ the Brazilian forward if they are to fund a move for Cornet this window.
As per the report, Leeds are interested in Cunha, with Zenit St. Petersburg and Inter Milan also keen on Cunha. According to earlier reporting from TuttoMercatoWeb, Hertha value the winger at €25m (£21m).
Indeed, it is an interesting situation for Leeds. After all, as reported by Olympique et Lyonnais, the Midlands side are also keen on Cornet. Moreover, as per the report, Victor Orta has even made a bid for the 24-year-old attacker.
However, with Hertha now keen on the Olympique Lyonnais star, Leeds’ offer for Cornet was likely rejected, and Cunha is now Bielsa’s top attacking target.
Leeds have been one of the busier sides in the transfer window this summer. The Elland Road club have already signed Junior Firpo and Kristoffer Klaesson for the first-team. And a slew of youngsters have also joined for the U-23 side.
Yet Cunha could be the most impressive signing so far Leeds this summer if they can strike a deal with Hertha for the Brazilian attacker. And the Bundesliga side’s interest in Cornet could be beneficial for Leeds.
