Rangers manager Steven Gerrard called on the Gers support to roar the Light Blues into the Champions League playoff against Malmo, and he could get his wish after the club confirmed they will have a full-house at Ibrox against the Swedes – leaving fans on Twitter emotional.

Rangers last hosted a full-house when they faced Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League in March 2020, with the Light Blues allowed just under half-capacity for the weekend win over Livingston.

With the Gers away to Dundee United in the Premiership this weekend, the next game at Ibrox will be the Champions League qualifier against Malmo on Tuesday night.

The Gers confirmed there are some conditions attached after their application for 100% capacity was approved by Glasgow City Council.

The return to full capacity also means that the upcoming Old Firm clash with Celtic at Ibrox could become ‘Flag Day’ as the Gers unfurl the league flag they won last season.

It is unclear whether the return to full capacity will immediately allow for the return of away fans too – however, Ibrox won’t have any Swedes inside for the Malmo clash with UEFA banning visiting fans from qualifying and playoff rounds.

Rangers fans were, understandably, ecstatic at the news and can’t wait to get back inside Ibrox after almost 18 months away.
