Bayern Munich cannot afford to sign RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer without any sales, according to Sky Germany, amid rival interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Der FCB want to sign Sabitzer as Julian Nagelsmann would otherwise lack adequate support for Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka. Marc Roca is currently the third-in-line at centre-mid, but endured a difficult first year at the Allianz Arena.

Figures in Bavaria also question if the Spaniard will ever reach the levels of Kimmich and Goretzka. Making a deal for Sabitzer increasingly key, but a move for the Austrian must fit within their limited finances.

Leipzig would accept €18-20m (£15.5-17m) plus add-ons to sell Sabitzer as he is in the final year of his contract. Yet the fee is too high for Bayern in the current climate, as they would have to sell players before making any move.

Bayern Munich’s struggles to afford Sabitzer will offer Arsenal and Tottenham hope of a deal with Leipzig. Fabrizio Romano claims the Spurs hierarchy admire the playmaker, while Bild also report the Gunners want him.

Bayern are prepared to sell Corentin Tolisso, but no side has yet made a sufficient play for the Frenchman. Der FCB may also cash in on Chris Richards and Michael Cuisance, but the pair might note raise enough funds.

Sky Germany expect Bayern Munich will be quiet on the incomings front before Deadline Day if they cannot raise enough funds. But, if they do, the Bundesliga giants may target Sabitzer, following interest Bild reported, as they have not made a final decision yet.

Sabitzer has given Arsenal, Tottenham and Bayern Munich additional hope of a transfer, as well. Goal report he has told Leipzig he will not sign a new contract beyond 2022.

Arsenal, Tottenham boosted by Bayern Munich finances in Sabitzer race

Bayern Munich’s financial difficulties have boosted Arsenal and Tottenham’s positions in the race for Sabitzer this summer. But the Bavarian outfit still hold a key advantage after appointing Nagelsmann as their manager in April, replacing Hansi Flick.

Sabitzer knows Nagelsmann well from the Bayern Munich boss’ time in charge at RB Leipzig. The Austrian enjoyed two strong campaigns under the German, as well, scoring 25 goals and 18 assists in 83 games. Including a nine-goal, seven-assist haul last term.

Nagelsmann also said of Sabitzer while at Leipzig, via Bundesliga.com: “It doesn’t matter if he’s tired or in great shape, you know exactly what you’re going to get from him. Hunger, excellent tactical awareness and the ability to kick-on in the last 20 minutes if you need it.”
