Gary Neville has given his take on Sky Sports News (5:43pm, August 3, 2021) on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane’s situation amid interest from Manchester City.

Harry Kane controversy

As reported by The Athletic today, Kane did not show up for pre-season training at Tottenham for the second successive day.

The England international was reportedly expected to be back in training at Tottenham on Monday.

City want to sign the striker, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly not willing to sell him this summer.

The Daily Star reported this week that Premier League champions City are ready to pay £120 million for the 28-year-old striker.

The Daily Mail have reported that Kane is actually self-isolating after returning from his holidays.

What Gary Neville thinks

Former Manchester United defender and Sky Sports pundit Neville has given his take on the situation.

The Englishman has said that if Kane is supposed to be back in training now, then he should go to Hotspur Way.

Neville said on Sky Sports News (5:43pm, August 3, 2021): “You have to turn up, you have to respect your teammates. Your teammates in the dressing room, they are all there doing pre-season.

“So I always think that Harry has got to get back in quickly and get back with those lads running around the pitch.

“As much as he wants to leave, as much as he thinks that he might have been hard done to, as much as he is annoyed with the guy who is making the decisions, he has got to get back in with his teammates because they are professional players as well.”

What happens now?

If Kane is supposed to be training at Tottenham now, then not many will sympathise with him.

Of course, one can understand why the striker would want to leave Spurs, especially for City.

The Citizens regularly win the Premier League title and also reached the Champions League final last season.

However, there must be another way to get a move away from Tottenham.

It will be interesting to see what happens now.
