Serie A sensation Dusan Vlahovic has been tipped to become a £100 million footballer amid interest from Premier League giants Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs, as reported by FirenzeViola.
If Vlahovic was plying his trade in the yellow and black of Borussia Dortmund rather than struggling Fiorentina, would we be talking about the Serbian rather than Erling Haaland as the most exciting young striker in European football?
Because, ability wise, there isn’t much to separate Haaland from a man just five months his junior.
Physically imposing and technically brilliant, Vlahovic scored 21 goals during a breakthrough Serie A campaign in 2020/21. And those outstanding performances came not for a side chasing a European place but for a Fiorentina side that finished 13th, making his achievements even more impressive.
“He is a top striker and will score 20 goals easily next season.”
Liverpool and Spurs enter talks with Dusan Vlahovic
Reports have suggested Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool both entered talks with Vlahovic, with Nuno Espirito Santo apparently giving the green light to sign a man who caught Fabio Paratici’s eye during his final season in the Juventus boardroom.
As it stands, however, the smart money is on Vlahovic staying for one more year at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The self-professed ‘new Zlatan Ibrahimovic’ is getting on like the proverbial house on fire with new Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano and is expected to sign a new contract, albeit one with a £65 million release clause.
“(Vlahovic) loves the team, the city. He has become accustomed to Florence and Fiorentina,” says former Viola hero Daniel Bertoni.
“Vlahovic, like Haaland, is a £100 million striker. This year will be (his) time to explode.”
