On August 2nd, Kathy Griffin shared the news with her fans and followers on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer.
In a post, Kathy explained the situation, saying:
“I’ve got to tell you guys something. I have cancer. I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed. Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked!”
Who is Kathy Griffin’s husband?
Kathy Griffin’s husband is Randy Bick, who she began dating back in 2011 after the pair met at a food and drink festival.
In 2016, she told People: “Well, you know, I didn’t think it would last [because] he’s 18 years younger than I am!”
The couple went on a break in 2019, but got back together a few months later, with Kathy saying:
“Even though he’s 19 years younger, we both turned to each other and went, ‘This is the longest relationship for both of us, you know? We should fight for it and make it work’.”
On January 1st 2020, Kathy shared a video online alongside Randy, telling fans that they were getting married.
At their wedding, comic Lily Tomlin acted as the officiant, and Kathy shared clips from the day on her Instagram account.
Kathy Griffin announces lung cancer diagnosis
Kathy explained to her fans that currently the doctors are “very optimistic” as the cancer is stage one and contained to her left lung. She wrote:
“Hopefully no chemo or radiation after this and I should have normal function with my breathing. I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less.”
“It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh, and entertaining you, but I’m gonna be just fine.”
Kathy also mentioned that she is “fully vaccinated” for Covid and encouraged her followers to “stay up to date with your medical check ups,” as it can “save your life.”
