Southampton have beaten Arsenal in the race to sign Chelsea defender Valentino Livramento in a £5million deal that should go through imminently.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that 18-year-old Livramento is all set to trade West London for the South Coast.

Southampton have already raided Chelsea to sign centre back Dynel Simeu and it now looks like Livramento is following him to St Mary’s Stadium.

The report notes that Southampton have fended off huge interest in Livramento, with Chelsea’s bitter London rivals Arsenal believed to have been interested.

Brighton, Manchester City, AC Milan, RB Leipzig and Monaco were also keen on Livramento, who was inside the final year of his Chelsea deal.

Southampton’s talks are thought to have accelerated over the weekend, and Livramento is now going to sign a five-year deal with the Saints.

Livramento may only be 18, but he has shown great play going forward with 10 assists and three goals in all competitions last season.

Backed for a huge future, Livramento could now challenge Kyle Walker-Peters at Southampton, and will hope to show the likes of Chelsea and even Arsenal just what they’re missing.
